FILMED FASHION DOCUMENTARY FOR MY FINAL YEAR SHOW

A couple of film students were given a brief to make a reality documentary and fashion was what they chose. I dont think they quite knew what they were letting themselves in for. Having followed 21 third year fashion students during the blood sweat and tears could not have been easy. They were present during the fittings where our tutors would rip our ideas and collections apart leaving us traumatised and emotional every thursday.Having an insight to this first hand shocked the crew as to how cut throat fashion really is and how us fashion students have to work extremely hard in order to gain any type of recognition or credit. Most peoples views on fashion is that its a drop out course for air headed materialistic individuals who cant do anything better with their lives. Hopefully having witnessed behind the scenes material this could not have been further from the truth.

It was an emotional journey and although not much of that was captured even watching the documentary brought all those feelings of not just euphoria but sadness too. It was a tough year for every single one of us, but ask if I would do it again yes I would! That year built and shaped me to face the industry with a thick skin and one hell of an attitude. Im just thankful someone was there to capture one of the toughest yet best moments ive had so far in my life, and hopefully to have learned from our experiences of what it really is like to be a fashion student studying in London.
